What is Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic practice that uses guided hypnosis to help an individual make positive changes in their lives.
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and focused attention. In this natural state, an individual’s mind and body are put into a heightened state of learning, allowing them to become more open and receptive to suggestions for self-improvement and behaviour modification.
Hypnotherapy helps individuals tap into their subconscious to bring about change and transformation in areas where conscious efforts may not have been as effective.
Debunking Myths: Hypnosis as a Tool for Empowerment, Not Control
A common misconception often reinforced by movies is that hypnosis is a form of mind control.
In reality, hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of concentration and heightened focus that enhances an individual’s control over their mind and body.
The goal of hypnotherapy is to harmonise the subconscious and conscious mind to give the person greater control over their emotions and behaviour.
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by gently guiding an individual into a deep relaxed state known as a hypnotic trance.
In this state, the subconscious mind can be accessed to explore and address beliefs, behaviours and emotions. Hypnotherapy is successful with bypassing the critical mind and accessing the subconscious mind where information from your life is stored.
Reprogramming the Subconscious: How Hypnotherapy Transforms Your Inner Mind
The subconscious mind is like a computer filing system, storing memories, beliefs, habits, patterns, behaviours and programs since birth.
The subconscious operates many of our automatic behaviours, such as habits and emotional reactions, much like a computer runs background processes without the user’s help.
Just as you can update, alter or delete files on a computer system, you can ‘reprogram’ the subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy gives access to these files so that old beliefs can be updated, outdated files removed and new positive programs can be installed.
Unlocking the Power of the Mind: How Hypnotherapy Creates Lasting Change
Hypnotherapy is a powerful therapy that enables people to access parts of their mind that traditional therapies might not be able to reach, creating lasting changes in thoughts, emotions and behaviour.

Why Hypnotherapy Works
Frequently Asked Questions
Can everyone be hypnotised?
Yes, most people can enter a light or medium state of hypnosis. The depth of hypnosis will vary from person to person and will depend on their willingness and openness to the process.
Some groups of people might not be able to be hypnotised, including: people with severe psychiatric conditions, highly resistant, cognitive impairments, under the influence of alcohol or drugs and very young children.
What if I can’t be hypnotised?
If you find it difficult to be hypnotised, the hypnotherapist will adjust their approach and use other techniques to help you reach a hypnotic state.
If you are open, willing and able to relax, you are likely to experience hypnosis!
What does it feel like to be hypnotised?
Being hypnotised feels like a deep state of relaxation. It is similar to daydreaming, where you are ‘lost in thought.’ You may feel very calm and at peace, but still very much aware of your surroundings. The experience can leave you feeling refreshed afterwards.
Some people experience a sense of time distortion. Time seems to pass more slowly, or more quickly.
How does hypnotherapy differ from other therapies?
Traditional therapy often works with the conscious mind, whereas, hypnotherapy focuses on the subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy can produce faster results, as it bypasses the critical factor and the conscious mind’s resistance to directly address automatic beliefs, behaviours, emotions and deep-seated issues.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of hypnotherapy sessions needed will vary and will depend on the individual and issue being addressed. Some people may see results after 1-3 session, while others may need more sessions for problems that are more complex or deeply rooted. The number of sessions needed will also depend on the person’s responsiveness to hypnosis and their personal goals.
