How Coaching Works
Many people have a dream or vision for their future, but getting there sometimes seems unreachable. Getting from point A and to the imagined goal of Point B can seem like an off-road journey filled with endless challenges and no clear path or direction of sight to the intended destination. This is where a coach can help. A coach works with you in a collaborative way to help you identify and get clear on your goals and vision, whilst helping you shift unproductive thought patterns and beliefs to help you create and take actionable steps to achieving your goals and improving your life.
Coaching is a goal-orientated approach that is effective for personal and professional growth. A coach does not tell a person what to do or how to get to where they want to go. Their role is to support a person in building their roadmap to reach their goals, whilst keeping them accountable and motivated along the way. Working with a coach makes the journey more enjoyable and often faster. Regular coaching sessions maintain a person’s momentum and commitment to their goals, often leading them to achieving their goals more effectively than what they might on their own.
Coaching begins with an initial session to understand the client’s goals and challenges. From there, the coach works collaboratively with the client in structured sessions to develop personalised strategies for growth. During the session a coach will use various techniques to help expand the client’s mind and identify any blocks or barriers that may be preventing them moving forward. Techniques, such as Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) are incorporated into the session to facilitate growth and support the client in making profound changes that are long lasting.

How does coaching differ from therapy?
While coaching and therapy both focus on personal growth, therapy focuses primarily on resolving psychological issues and healing past trauma. Coaching, on the other hand, is a more future focused, goal-orientated approach helping clients to set goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
How many coaching sessions will I need?
Every person has different goals they want to achieve and therefore the number of sessions needed will vary. Some people find a few sessions valuable, while others engage a coach for a longer period for continuous development.
How is progressed measured?
Progress is measured through changes in mindset and behaviour, improved performance, achievement of goals and the client’s sense of satisfaction. Each session includes a check-in to assess how the client is progressing, so that any adjustments can be made to help the client remain on track towards their goals.
Can coaching be done online?
Yes, absolutely it can. Coaching can be effectively conducted online or in person. I offer both to allow for flexibility and accessibility for clients anywhere in the world.
